DC CREW & JNR DC KIDZ CREW WIN GROOVE 09!!

Winning Groove in 2008 gave DC Crew automatic entry to Represent Canberra in the Australian heats of the World Hip Hop Championships held in Sydney earlier this year. The crew wowed the crowd with an explosive fun filled routine put together by the Group of 7 Dancers themselves. With all members aged between 17 and 19 years, this was a great achievement. The crew were blown out of the water and totally speechless to hear that they had won 2nd place in Australia knowing this secured them a position to compete in Vegas and represent Australia!

Before they knew it, the DC Crew were jetting off to Las Vegas to represent Australia in the World Hip Hop Championships (the Olympics of Hip Hop). The Crew arrived in Las Vegas and tried their best to take in all the excitement, lights and go-go-go of the Vegas spirit let alone the unbelievable and amazing talent shown by the 30 different nations of the world. The Crew were overwhelmed by this breath taking experience and above all did extraordinary well in the competition. This trip was described as being a dream come true and one of the best experiences any of them could have ever asked for. Thank you so much to the DC Family all DC supporters who performed or came along to the benefit and help fundraise in any way, this dream could not have come true without your help!

Touching back down in OZ the Crew had no time for jetlag as they were determined to train their hardest for Groove! With less than six days to prepare for Groove all we’ll say is there were some late nights! Dance Central took out BOTH titles last Saturday night at Groove, Canberra’s biggest hip hop competition and heats for the Australian wide competition, Battlegrounds (to be held in Melbourne 29 Nov 09). DC Crew and Jnr DC Kidz Crew both performed amazingly! Both taking out 1st place in both divisions! The win was even more pleasing given that the overall standard was higher than ever. Defending their first place title from last year, the DC Crew were under immense pressure and delivered their most explosive performance ever! We all felt it!!

Winning on Groove 09 (Sat 15th) has meant that DC Crew will now back-up dance for well known hip hop artist Ne-Yo at his after party of the Australian concerts later this year. Nicole Smigielski co leader of the crew says ‘dancing for Ne-Yo will be like having the best ever dream come true’. Both Crews have also won prize money and automatic entry to compete in the Australian heats for the World Hip Hop Championships in 2010! Will DC Crew make it to Vegas in 2010? You bet we’ll be trying our dammed hardest! :D

The Crew could not have ever expected for all that has happened within the last few weeks, and they are extremely excited about what lies ahead! Stay Tuned for news on how we go at World Supremecy Battlegrounds!
